Representative of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), visited the Institute of Nutrition and Food Industry of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences
According to the policies of the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences on the expansion of international activities, on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, a meeting was held at the Nutrition Research Institute with the presence of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Dr. Will Parks. At this meeting, Dr. Hedayat Hosseini Chairman of the institute welcomed everyone and stated his willingness and potential to expand their collaboration with UNICEF
Subsequently, the institute's major program directors introduced their programs. Also, Dr. Mafi and Ms. Cheraghali, representatives of the office of the Vice-Chancellor of International Affairs expressed their readiness to expand their cooperation with UNICEF. Dr. Parks reported on UNICEF activities in Iran, and emphasized that the institute has the potential to be presented as a UNICEF regional center and can be in line with the Memorandum of Understanding between UNICEF and Ministry of Health to improve the nutritional health of children. It was decided at this meeting to prepare an executive program for implementation.
Nutrition Research Institute with more than 50 years of activity in the field of nutrition is the only national institute that is taking steps to improve the health status of food and nutrition community in Iran and has numerous national macro programs that are somehow related to health. In addition, since 1992 is a World Health Organization Collaborating Center.
